Yosemite operator gets scathing federal review after years of health, safety hazards

In the 2024 review, Yosemite Hospitality received the lowest rating of “unsatisfactory,” following years of poor marks, public documents show. That rating “constitutes grounds for termination of the concession contract,” the National Park Service noted in a bright red bar on the document — though it has not indicated it has any plans to do so.

“The 2024 annual overall rating for Yosemite Hospitality identifies areas needed for improvement,” Scott Clemans, National Park Service spokesperson for the Pacific West Region, said in an emailed statement Friday. “Yosemite Hospitality has shown a commitment to improve its operations, and we are committed to closely monitoring performance and working with our business partner to meet the high expectations of quality services our visitors expect.”

Yosemite Hospitality, a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based hospitality company Aramark, which runs operations at more than a dozen national parks has already been the subject of multiple investigations by local and national media outlets that revealed dangerous conditions for both visitors and workers at the park.
